Which brings me to my list of the 10 best remote working places in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area. These locations encapsulate the laid-back outdoor-oriented lifestyle we take seriously in Tahoe – while still offering a quiet refuge between adventures.
Tahoe Mill
There are two stellar Tahoe Mill locations to work from in the Tahoe basin. The first is at the base of Alpine Meadows Ski Resort at 150 Alpine Meadows Road, allowing you to easily slip into your boots and skis during your lunch break and get in a few turns before your afternoon conference calls. And the second is conveniently located at 395 North Lake Tahoe Boulevard in Tahoe City just steps from the shores of Lake Tahoe and downtown shops and restaurants. You can reserve your desk, office, or conference room directly on their website and get access to their WiFi, printer, and kitchen.
Mountain Workspace
Many North Tahoe residents and visitors are looking for small office space, temporary conference space and/or a place to work that isn’t their kitchen table. Mountain Workspace is designed to offer a whole array of services to satisfy whatever your particular need is; from private offices to open tables, conference space, and more, in a collaborative environment. In the Mountain Workspace, you’ll find a diverse group of freelancers, entrepreneurs, remote workers, and people just looking for a place to set up shop for a few hours. The Alpine Club at Northstar California
Tucked away in a quiet corner of The Village at Northstar California Resort is a true hidden gem and one of the absolute best places to call your office for the day. The Alpine Club is fully equipped with desk space, complimentary WiFi, and a full service cafe featuring breakfast, lunch and drinks. Park in the morning and make this your headquarters for the day since you’re just steps from the gondola and everything else Northstar has to offer.
Lift Workspace
If you are looking for more long-term workspace, then The Lift near the Truckee Airport (12242 Business Park Drive) is your best bet. The Lift offers monthly membership options, ranging from a full-time dedicated desk to a 5-day per month package if a shorter but consistent workweek is more your style. There is just one rule at Lift – no phone calls. The environment at Lift is a quiet place to concentrate without any interruptions or distractions. There are phone booths if you need to make a call, or you can simply take a quick step outside. Membership add-ons include a mailbox, lockbox, and access to the private multimedia room – printing and coffee/tea are complimentary for all members.

Drink Coffee Do Stuff
The newest coffee shop on the block was created equally for both its regular patrons and the transient crowd. The name says it all – Drink Coffee Do Stuff – order a cup of Joe, get some work done, and then get on with whatever Tahoe-esque adventure you choose for the day. If you like to work amongst the caffeinated adventure-seekers, then setting up shop at either the Downtown Truckee (10115 Donner Pass Road) or Incline Village (907 Tahoe Blvd) location will easily become your home away from home inspiring you to explore Tahoe just by simply being in the presence of others hardworking adventurers.
Raley’s McKinney Loft
Grab some snacks or food from the hot bar in the Raley’s grocery store and then head upstairs to another local secret – McKinney Loft, featuring a 20-person conference table, plus several desks and other comfortable seating areas. Starting at 4 pm the bar opens as well, making it an easy transition from work time to happy hour. Watch the planes take off and land at the Truckee Airport from the outdoor balcony around the fire pit and heated lamps. You can even purchase a made-to-order pizza from Raley’s deli and make a day of it. Located at 10001 Soaring Way in Truckee.
Red Truck Cafe at the Truckee Airport
An airport isn’t a typical place to hang out, but the airport is one of the coolest places to spend a few hours working in Truckee. Grab a bite to eat at Red Truck Cafe, featuring local and sustainable Indian-inspired cuisine, with views of the entire runway. If the kids are with you, send them over to the kid’s park, just outside the cafe with Northstar’s picturesque slopes as the backdrop to the swing set and twisty slide. The airport also offers conference rooms for rent if you need a larger space for the day. Located at 10356 Truckee Airport Road.
The Sawyer
The Sawyer restaurant at Schaffer’s Mill is centered around an amazing indoor/outdoor bar with views of Northstar’s Lookout Mountain and the private community’s beautiful golf course. Reservations are recommended for all non-members to access the front gate. The restaurant features a locally crafted all-day menu from shareable plates to entrees, changing each season. Set up shop next to a window overlooking the golf course, or work remotely from the outdoor patio surrounded by the towering pines this private golf community is known for.
CoffeeBar
The Coffeebar in Truckee has two locations, one in the heart of downtown at 10120 Jibboom Street and their bakery location located at the edge of town at 12047 Donner Pass Road. Both are spectacular locations to settle in with a cup of coffee and some yummy bites. You may be familiar with the Coffeebar from other locations in Redwood City, Menlo Park, Reno, and Olympic Valley.
